Perspective Unmanned VTU s.p. Systems for ACR

The multi-domain style of war, involving all kinds of platforms and systems across all military components, needs more than ever enough information for the commander to make the right decision. VTU s.p. (Military Technical Institute, gov. enterprise) in its branches VTULaPVO (Air Force and Air Defense Technical Institute) and VTUVM (Military Technical Institute of Veapons and Munitions) has been focused on collecting pictorial information.

In VTULaPVO has been developed and manufactured, among other things, an unmanned vehicle with a vertical start of category MINI called BRUS. It is an Y6 hexacopter, controlled with our own autopilot and equipped with a stabilized day and night camera head. The device is deployed in the Czech Police service and in the monitoring of the operation of the “Lom ČSA” surface mine (Open mine of the Czech Army). It also serves as an emergency aid for IZS (Joint Rescue System) during extraordinary accidents (fire of the chemical plant in Litvínov, explosion of the ammunition warehouse in Vrbětice, ...).

VTULaPVO is currently working on a 2 kg multicopter development project designed for the optical reconnaissance for the forward units to a depth from 1 to 3 km. Higher demands on "surgically" accurate hits of weapon systems also require more precise targeting. For this purpose, another developed unmanned device - a multicopter weighing up to 5 kg - equipped with an optical system with the possibility of determining the coordinates of the target with higher accuracy.

In addition to the aerial survey, the development of the UGV-Pz unmanned ground reconnaissance vehicle takes place at the VTUVM branch. It is an optical system located on a six-wheeled semi-autonomous remote-controlled vehicle.

VTU s.p. intends to continue the development of reconnaissance airborne and ground systems, which will be complemented by weapon systems. For airborne systems, it is once again a multicopter deployable on the battalion level to carry out ISTAR tasks with the ability to right hit the target with its own weapons. In the ground reconnaissance system field we will continue in UGV miniaturization in terms of its dimensions and weight and the strengthening of effective target detection systems and significant firepower (machine gun, missiles). The subject of our interest is also the synergy of both systems - air and ground.
