COL JOOREN joined the Army in 1980 signed an enlisted contract for two years as a maintenance officer. After he finished the Military Academy he served as a commander of several maintenance & logistic platoons in the Netherlands and Germany. Back in the Netherlands he worked at the Logistic Trainings Centre responsible for planning logistic courses, training and exercises for Army, Navy and Air Force personnel. During this period he attended the Staff Course at Netherlands Defence Academy. In 2002 he got promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel and handled financial issues in the Defence Materiel Organization in The Hague. In 2004 he became Commander of Maintenance Battalion and during his tour in 2006 he was deployed to the Afghanistan NATO ISAF Mission, where he acted as Chief G4 Branch of the Task Force Uruzgan. During his position at the Army Staff he acted as Chairman of the STANAG 2406 Working Group (Land Forces Logistic Doctrine Combat Service Support). Subsequently he was posted for two positions at the General Staff in The Hague coordinating joint cooperation and operational readiness and sustainment issues at the Directorate of Operational Readiness Support Branch and responsible for planning, execution and sustainment of all joint operational logistic support for Netherlands national deployment and international missions at the J4 Branch. In March 2016 he was appointed as Branch Chief Logistics Policy within the European Union Military Staff Logistics Directorate and promoted to Colonel.
